4 POWERFUL MORNING RITUALS

For most of us, our morning routines are often a string of unconscious habits that we’ve been doing for a very long time.  Hit snooze, make coffee, wake up the kids, shower and get out the door.  Taking some time to consciously develop a powerful morning routine will not only transform your life but it will also set the tone for the hours that follow.

Here are some of my favourite morning rituals that you can implement into your life:

  1. WATER WITH LEMON.  First things first, always start your day with a large glass of water with a slice of lemon.  This is very simple and you should do this ritual daily.  Can be warm or cold.  Lemon water flushes out toxins, balances blood sugar and helps to rehydrate your cells after your sleep.
  1. PRACTICE GRATITUDE.  The power of gratitude is that it forces you to focus on all the great things in your daily life, no matter how big or small.  Focus on all the things that are working for you versus the things that are challenging you.  Shining a light on all the awesome things in life will not only make you happier but will immensely contribute to a more powerful morning routine.

  1. WAKE UP EARLIER. Rising earlier will allow for a little bit more time for YOU!  So waking up just a little bit earlier, may allow for you to begin incorporating some of these rituals into your own routine.  Other obvious advantages include extra time to go for a morning walk or other exercise in the mornings.  I, myself, find that I am way more productive in the early hours of the days and get so much more done if I get an early start.
  1. STAY UNPLUGGED. Try to stay unplugged from your mobile device for the first 30 –  60 minutes of your day.  You may not think that it makes a difference but it does.  Once you’ve spent a few minutes practicing gratitude, try to stay in that positive mind frame and not be distracted by work messages or emails that may put you in a reactive state rather than one of peace and control. 

BONUS POINTS:  Make your bed. 😉 Sometimes it seems like a waste of time because you’ll be jumping into it again at the end of day… but taking this one simple action in the morning will cause a domino effect and you’ll feel accomplished right from the get-go.
